Speed in a medium is the speed of light divided by the refractive index, v = c/n. With c = 300 m/us and n = 1.5, v = 300/1.5 = 200 metres per microsecond, so the signal travels slower than in free space.

Perchè l'indice di rifrazione è dato dalla velocità della luce nel vuoto fratto la velocità della luce nel mezzo, in questo caso sai che nel vuoto la luce va a 1,5 volte la velocità che avrebbe nella fibra.
Per trovare la velocità nel mezzo ti basterà fare (v luce nel vuoto / indice di rifrazione)
