Module 4. Electronic fundamentals

What power is required for a desynn indicator system?

  • DC.
  • AC 400 Hz.
  • AC 50 Hz.

Explanation

The desynn indicator system is supplied from the aircraft DC bus; current flows through a toroidal resistance tapped by a moving wiper, and the resulting distribution of currents in the indicator coils sets the pointer. It therefore needs a DC supply, not the 400 Hz AC used by synchro systems.

Shenoy asking:

Synchros are always supplied with AC. Then why this DC?
