Module 4. Electronic fundamentals

When an SCR is switched on it has

  • low resistance.
  • no change in resistance.
  • high resistance.

Explanation

When an SCR is triggered it latches into its conducting state, where the anode-to-cathode path presents a very low resistance and only a small on-state voltage drop. In its off (blocking) state the same path is high resistance.

when SCR switch on,it means the conduction starts and hence the resistance goes low (idealy it is zero).
in OFF state ,the SCR resistance is very high ( idealy infinite i.e open ckt)

Its like a switch. When a switch is on it conducts hence low resistance. When off, it has high resistance..
