Explanation

A silicon junction needs a forward voltage above its turn-on knee of roughly 0.6 to 0.7 V before it conducts properly, so of the values offered only about 1 V is sufficient. The 0.2 V figure corresponds to germanium and is too low for silicon to conduct.
