Module 4. Electronic fundamentals

With an NPN transistor electrons leave the

  • Base.
  • Collector.
  • Emitter.

Explanation

In an NPN transistor the emitter is the heavily doped region that emits electrons; under forward base-emitter bias electrons leave the emitter, cross the thin base and are collected at the collector. So electron flow originates at the emitter, which is why conventional current in an NPN is taken as flowing from collector to emitter.

Abdulrahman asking:

Why the elections should leave the emitter?

Don't confuse electrons flow with current flow.
