What are the principal advantages of the duplex fuel nozzle used in many turbine engines?

  • Allows a wider range of fuels and filters to be used.
  • Restricts the amount of fuel flow to a level where more efficient and complete burning of the fuel is achieved.
  • Provides better atomization and uniform flow pattern.

Explanation from PART66Online

The duplex nozzle has separate primary and secondary flows so it can spray finely at low fuel flows yet still deliver a wide, even cone at high flows. This gives good atomisation and a uniform spray pattern across the whole operating range. It does not restrict total flow or widen the range of fuels that may be used.
