Determine x in the following: (2x-1)(3x+2) = 0.

  • 1.5, 1
  • 0.5, 3
  • -0.67, 0.5

Explanation from PART66Online

Setting each factor to zero: 2x - 1 = 0 gives x = 0.5, and 3x + 2 = 0 gives x = -2/3, about -0.67. A product is zero only when one of its factors is zero, so these are the two roots.
