What is the pressure increase over one stage of a centrifugal compressor?

  • 5:1
  • 1.2:1
  • 8:1

Explanation from PART66Online

A single stage of a centrifugal compressor can achieve a relatively high pressure ratio, of the order of about 5:1, because the impeller adds energy by both centrifugal action and diffusion. This is far higher than the roughly 1.1-1.3:1 obtained per axial stage, so the small per-stage and large multi-stage values are incorrect here.
