When using a test set to test an EGT thermocouple circuit
- no compensation for ambient temperature is required
- only consider ambient temperature compensation if the ambient temperature is over 20oC
- always compensate for ambient temperature
Explanation
A thermocouple test set generates a known reference temperature (or simulates a calibrated EMF) and contains its own cold-junction reference within the instrument. Because the reference is built in, the technician does not separately compensate for ambient temperature when testing the EGT circuit. Ambient compensation is handled internally regardless of the surrounding temperature.

As I know, thermocouples are already temperature compensated inside gauge. So not additional compensation is required.
