When the A.P.U is running and pneumatics are on

  • bleed valve is closed, surge valve is open.
  • bleed valve is open, surge valve is closed.
  • bleed valve is open, surge valve is modulating.

Explanation from PART66Online

With the APU running and supplying pneumatics the bleed (load) valve is open to deliver air, and the surge/bypass valve closes because flow is being used normally. The surge valve only opens to dump air and protect the load compressor when bleed demand is low, so an open bleed with a closed surge valve is the normal supplying state.
