Module 5. Digital techniques / Electronic instrument systems

ARINC 629 is

  • half duplex.
  • full duplex.
  • single mode.

Explanation

ARINC 629 is a half-duplex bus: terminals share the same medium and transmit and receive at different times rather than simultaneously, so only one unit talks at a moment. Full duplex would require simultaneous two-way transmission, which 629 does not provide.

Hey jawad!

ARINC 629 is half-duplex just a faster format, it transmits in both directions just not at the same time which is the difference between duplex (2 way simultaneous) and half-duplex (2 way-in turns). It has to take turn in either transmitting or receiving. It just does this process quicker than previous half-duplex models (429 & mil 1553b).
