If on a flight deck EFIS system all the displays were missing one bit of information. This is most likely to be

  • the input sensor bus and display controller.
  • the input sensor bus and display processor.
  • the display controller and symbol generator.

Explanation from PART66Online

If the same single item of information is missing from every EFIS display, the fault must lie in a part common to all displays. The display controller and symbol generator process and format the data sent to the screens, so a fault there can drop one parameter across all displays, whereas an individual display unit fault would affect only that screen.

why should the symbol generator be faulty since each dislay is driven by a different one?
(unless of course when all other symbol generators have failed)
