Module 17. Propeller

Minor surface damage located in a repairable area, but not on the leading or trailing edges of aluminium blades, may be repaired by first

  • filing with a half round or flat file.
  • sanding and applying a proper filler.
  • filing with a riffle file.

mwongela asking:

now am torn between two answers. previously the system gave me the answer to be sanding and applying a proper filler and now it is saying the right answer is filing with a riffle file.which one is the correct answer?

This is an informed guess.
think the key in the question is "aluminium blade" damage to aluminium blades can be blended out if within limits using a riffle file.

whereas blades with a composite construction would be repaired with a filler

hope this helps

Hello there,

My Part-66 basic traning states that for aluminum blade props may also be repaired with filing and riffle file.

The combo answers above are also 50% right, thus the other 50% may be misleading.
