On a modern single lever turboprop, the power lever controls:

  • only the engine fuel flow with no effect on propeller blade angle, which is controlled by a separate propeller control lever
  • only the propeller blade angle with no effect on engine fuel flow, which is controlled by a separate throttle lever in cockpit
  • both the engine fuel flow and the propeller blade angle through a coordinated control system managed by the FADEC or similar

On many modern turboprops a single power lever sets the desired thrust, and a coordinating control schedule, often via FADEC or a propeller/fuel control unit, simultaneously manages fuel flow and propeller blade angle to deliver it. It therefore affects both engine power and pitch rather than only one of them in isolation.

What about a king air 200? The power control lever only operates the FCU via the connecting rod. The prop is controlled via a separate lever. That lever only controls the primary governor. So this question is not accurate. Not all aircraft have FADEC! A&B can be correct for this question so maybe it should read "on a modern turboprop aircraft the power lever controls?"

You are right, the stem is too broad. On a conventional turboprop the power lever runs to the fuel control unit and a separate lever sets the governor, so option A fits that case perfectly well. I am rewording the stem to name the single lever installation, which is the only one the marked answer describes. Thanks for flagging it.
