Module 8. Basic aerodynamics

Air above Mach 0.7 is

  • partially compressible.
  • incompressible.
  • compressible.

Explanation

Air is always compressible, but below roughly Mach 0.3 the density change is small enough to ignore. Above about Mach 0.7 compressibility effects become significant and must be accounted for, as local airflow over the wing accelerates toward sonic speed and density changes markedly.

P-factor asking:

Air should not be take compressible Above Mach 1?
Someone can explain me? Thanks
