Module 15. Gas turbine engine

An increase in the Ram Ratio of an intake will

  • increase the temperature of the compressed air.
  • have no effect upon the temperature of the compressed air.
  • decrease the temperature of the compressed air.

Explanation

Ram compression in the intake raises air pressure by decelerating the airflow, and any compression of a gas also raises its temperature. So a higher ram ratio means more ram compression, which directly increases the temperature of the air delivered to the compressor.
