In what position is the constant-speed propeller control placed to check the magnetos?

  • Full decrease, low propeller blade pitch angle.
  • Full increase, low propeller blade pitch angle.
  • Full increase, high propeller blade pitch angle.

Explanation from PART66Online

Magneto checks are made with the constant-speed control set to full increase RPM, which corresponds to low (fine) blade pitch. With the governor on the fine stop the blade angle is fixed, so any magneto-induced RPM drop is shown truthfully instead of being absorbed by a change in pitch.
