A force of 15N is needed to move a body of mass 30kg along a footpath with uniform velocity. Find the coefficient of dynamic friction.(take g as 10m/s/s).
- 1/20.
- 1/10.
- 1/40.
Explanation
At uniform velocity the applied force balances friction, so F = mu x m x g. Rearranging, mu = 15 / (30 x 10) = 15 / 300 = 1/20. The coefficient of dynamic friction is dimensionless and equals the friction force divided by the normal load.

15/300 = 1/20
THEREFORE FORCE = 15N AND WEIGHT IS 300N AS IT HAVE TO BE CONVERTED FROM MASS 30KG TO WIEGHT BY USING THIS SIMPLE EQUATION WEIGHT=MASS*GRAVITY.
I don't see any grams here.
