Who needs this training
- Certifying staff and support staff in a Part-145 organisation, who must receive recurrent training in each 2-year period.
- Personnel involved in the delivery of the basic maintenance service: AMC4 145.A.30(e) says they should receive both initial and recurrent safety training, appropriate for their responsibilities.
- New staff: the Initial course is a first, full grounding and assumes no earlier human factors training.
The rule this training answers
Point 145.A.30(e) requires a Part-145 organisation to establish and control the competency of the personnel involved in maintenance, airworthiness reviews, safety management and compliance monitoring, including an understanding of the application of safety management principles, human factors and human performance issues appropriate to their function and responsibilities. AMC4 145.A.30(e) says personnel involved in the delivery of the basic maintenance service should receive both initial and recurrent safety training, and GM1 145.A.30(e) sets out the syllabus of topics.
Point 145.A.35(d) requires that certifying staff and support staff receive sufficient recurrent training in each 2-year period, including human factor issues.
The regulation sets no pass mark and no fixed number of hours for human factors training. The 75% pass mark on this course is our own assessment standard.

From the course introduction
Welcome to your Human Factors and Safety Management training. This is an initial course - a first, full grounding in human factors for anyone working in a Part-145 maintenance organisation. You do not need to have seen any of this before. We start from first principles, build each idea from the ground up, and always tie it back to the one thing that matters: the aircraft you help release has to be safe.
Here is the single idea the whole course rests on. Most maintenance errors are not the work of careless or unqualified people. They are the work of good, competent engineers who were quietly set up to fail by fatigue, interruption, pressure, a thin handover, a limitation of the human body, or a habit that drifted away from the manual. Human factors is the study of that setup - and, more importantly, of how to see it coming and stop it.

Pass the final exam at 75% and download your certificate straight away. Your organisation can check it at any time at Verify a certificate.
Human factors training is recurrent: certifying and support staff need it in each 2-year period (145.A.35(d)). Your certificate shows a "Refresh due by" date 24 months after issue.
This is independent training mapped to the applicable AMC and GM. Part66Online is not a Part-147 approved organisation, and no Part-147 approval is needed for this training. Final acceptance toward your training obligations rests with your employing organisation and its competent authority.
