Engine Pressure Ratio is the ratio of turbine or exhaust discharge pressure to the engine inlet pressure, sensed by probes at each station. Because this pressure rise across the engine tracks the thrust being produced, EPR serves as a thrust-setting parameter. It is unrelated to oil-to-fuel pressure ratios or ram pressure rise at the inlet.
