In a Series LC circuit if the value of the capacitance is increased then the power factor will be

  • greater than 1.
  • less than 1.
  • equal to 1.

Explanation

Increasing the capacitance changes the capacitive reactance so that it no longer equals the inductive reactance, moving the series circuit away from resonance. With a net reactance present, voltage and current are out of phase, so the power factor falls below 1.
