A circuit has 115 V RMS, 2.5A at 60 degrees, what is the power dissipated?

True power is found from P = V x I x cos(theta). Here that is 115 V x 2.5 A x cos(60 degrees) = 287.5 x 0.5 = about 143 W. The 300 VA figure is the apparent power (V x I) and is in volt-amperes, not the real power dissipated.
