The series wound generator`s terminal voltage will, when below saturation

  • increase with an increase in load.
  • decrease with an increase in load.
  • decrease with a decrease in rotational speed.

In a series-wound generator the load current also flows through the field winding, so below magnetic saturation a larger load strengthens the field and raises the generated e.m.f. Terminal voltage therefore rises with load until saturation is reached, after which further increases are limited.
