Module 14. Propulsion

An increase in fuel flow through the impeller type fuel flow transmitter is measured by

  • drum lags impeller
  • impeller lags turbine
  • decreasing angle between the two

Explanation

In an impeller-type fuel-flow transmitter the impeller is spun by the fuel and a sprung drum follows it; an increase in fuel flow increases the torque, so the drum lags further behind the impeller and the greater angular displacement is measured as the higher flow. The relationship is read from the relative position of drum and impeller, not between impeller and turbine.

Mihir Somaia asking:

Can someone please explain.
