Module 9. Human factors

When working on aircraft, the consumption of alcohol

  • is permissible as long as the blood alcohol level stays under the standard driving limit.
  • you cannot work on aircraft even 8 hours after consuming large quantities of alcohol.
  • is acceptable in small amounts before a shift as long as you feel fit to carry out tasks.

Explanation

Alcohol impairs judgement and motor skill, and residual effects plus hangover can persist for many hours, so working on aircraft is not permitted even some hours after heavy drinking. Tolerances such as the driving limit or 'feeling fit' do not make any pre-shift consumption acceptable for safety-critical maintenance.

manzagip asking:

Isn' t it 80 mg per 100 ml of blood ?
