Module 11. Aeroplane aerodynamics, structures and systems

How are passenger reading lights normally tested?

  • By using a READ LIGHT TEST switch on the cabin attendant panel.
  • Each one is switched on individually at passenger panel.
  • By using a READ LIGHT TEST switch at any passenger panel.

Explanation

Passenger reading lights are checked collectively from a single READ LIGHT TEST switch on the cabin attendant/forward attendant panel, so all lamps can be verified at once without walking the cabin. Testing each one individually at every passenger panel would be impractical for a serviceability check.

modern aircrafts equiped with cabin attendant control panel. These interactive panels facilitate cabin crew to test cabin area lighting systems.

Sure, depends on type.
On airbus it is possible to make a printout of faulty reading, fsb and ns lamps via MCDU CFDS.
