Module 11. Aeroplane aerodynamics, structures and systems

Buckling in a semi-monocoque structure is prevented by

  • bulkheads.
  • stringers.
  • longerons.

Explanation

In a semi-monocoque structure the longitudinal stringers stiffen the thin skin and prevent it buckling under compression and shear, carrying load with the skin between the frames. Bulkheads and longerons serve other roles; it is the closely spaced stringers that provide the anti-buckling support to the skin panels.

Are all 3 not correct?
