Module 1. Mathematics

For an equation 2y = 5x + 3 what is the gradient?

  • 3/5x
  • 5/2
  • 5x+3/2

Explanation

Dividing 2y = 5x + 3 by 2 gives y = (5/2)x + 3/2. The gradient is the coefficient of x, which is 5/2. The constant 3/2 is the y-intercept and plays no part in the slope.

Jordi asking:

I dont understand what does gradient mean. Also why is the result 5/2 i think is 5x+3/2

it's the slope of the line: divide each side by 2 and the "gradient" is the coefficient of X

almost i would advise not to pay attention to this site 100% study your school's books and simultaneously see the questions here. With only the questions here you won't pass.
