Module 2. Physics

The standard temperature and pressure for measuring the volume of liquids and solids is

  • 20 degrees C and 700 mmHg.
  • 20 degrees C and 760 mmHg.
  • 15 degrees C and 760 mmHg.

Explanation

The standard reference for the volume of liquids and solids is taken at 20 degrees C and 760 mmHg (one standard atmosphere). Because solids and liquids expand with temperature, fixing a common temperature and pressure lets measured volumes be compared consistently.
