Module 8. Basic aerodynamics

On a very humid day, an aircraft taking off would require

  • a shorter take off distance.
  • a longer take off run.
  • humidity has no measurable effect on take off run length.

arifadli8 asking:

high humidity = high density
so the lift will high..
short runway are used..
correted me if i mistaken

i thought the same!!
anyway, high humidity means more water vapour than air that means wing will get incontact with less air particles subsequently decreasing lift. moreover, less air particle means less Oxygen as well which again decreases the efficiency of the engine!

C'mon guys, humid air is less dense, because molecular mass of water (18 g/mol) is less than the molecular mass of dry air (around 29 g/mol).
