Module 17. Propeller

When governor spring load is less than governor weights, the CSU is in

  • underspeed.
  • overspeed.
  • normal.

Explanation

When the governor spring load is less than the centrifugal force of the flyweights, the propeller is turning faster than the selected RPM, an overspeed. The flyweights swing out, raise the pilot valve and the governor coarsens the blades to slow it back to on-speed. Spring force exceeding the weights would instead be underspeed.

read up on overspeed governers when the prop rotates faster the increased centrifugal force, forces the fly weights out and overcomes the spring loading. This is an overspeed condition.

not a great explanation but if you read up you'll understand check out you tube there may be some videos of how they work
